This was the final Stage of the body rebuild. Of course I have the interior to replace, but that's not going to happen before my rush to get the car finished for Run To The Sun.
--------------------------------------------------------
As soon as the car was in the workshop, the 1st job was to take all the wings, bonnet and doors off and remove the engine.
All the glass is removed too, along with the interior.
Then the process of flatting the paint and preparing the body for spray
Then primer was put on and painted round the edges of closure points (Doors, Boot, bonnet) and the joining gaps for the wings.
This was done to the wings also. There was a reason for this.
The reason we painted these shuts, especially the wings, was that we thought it best to bolt on the wings but not tightly. Leave a gap and the over-spray can go slightly into the gaps that we've already painted.
When the car comes out into the light you can see that the paint is a bit dull. It needs a good cutting back and polishing and then we are nearly done.
Here it is all buffed up and looking shiny. Just to put the bits back together again - Engine back in, rear valance on, Windows (new rubbers), door seals, Bolt all the wings up tight, fit lights and stuff so It could be driven home.
And here it is all back together, just before I took it home.
There is virtually no time left now to get it MOT'd and ready for Newquay. About a Fortnight I'd say.
Mad Rush!!!!!
